Catching up...

I haven't been on my blog this weekend but thankyou for the comments and to anyone who came to view it :)

Although I haven't  really been anywhere lately (I'm having to sacrifice a social life for holiday money at the moment), I have FINALLY moved my stuff out of my flat in Newcastle and am officially at home!! BUT on top of that, Gizmo was spayed on Friday and has needed lots of attention.
We have always had male dogs, and Casper was neutered earlier in the year, but Gizmo was already in season so we had to wait. Anyway... long story short she was eventually done on Friday and was in a lot of pain, although we were told by the vet she would be fine, and we had to go back and demanded pain killers for her.

She's a lot better now, as you can see from her gremlin-like face on this picture!
She is like a baby bat

In other news... my boyfriend brought me back some lovely gifts from New York a few weeks ago and despite the fact I have been to Harry Potter world in Florida a few years ago AND been to the Harry Potter studios in London.. I had never tried any of the Harry Potter sweets!!
He bought me a little box of the Bertie Bott's every flavour beans, which were....interesting...

Unfortunately I mostly got the gross flavours like bogey, black pepper, vomit, rotten egg, ear wax...you get the idea.
But they were really fun and I'm glad that I can finally say that I have tried them!!

Also.. our Disneyland Paris tickets have finally arrived!! We are going to Paris in 9 days and will be going to 'EuroDisney', I have never been before so I am really really excited :)

If anyone has any suggestions of good places to go in Paris or any good rides/ attractions in Disneyland, please do let me know!!

Thanks for reading :)

Tea in Shincliffe (Durham)

My Dad is going to be moving in with his girlfriend in Durham so he has been taking me and my brother through to explore more than just the picturesque centre. Last night he took us to 'The Rosetree Inn' in Shincliffe and with it being such a beautiful evening there were so many people out and about, it was really lovely.

If anyone is ever in Durham, I'd recommend taking time to go into the countryside, Shincliffe was beautiful and the Rosetree Inn was delicious!

I had a Baked Goats Cheese Salad and 2 big glasses of Rosé to wash it all down, overall a great evening catching up with my Dad.

Cocktails in jam jars!

My boyfriend was back from Glasgow this weekend and so we've been pretty busy going out in Newcastle, eating pizza, watching the Champions League match (errrrgh).. but other than that we decided to make some cocktails as a change from going to a bar or the pub!! We also had a fun idea to make them inside of jam jars instead of glasses, and this is basically what we did:

We used:
  • 1 lime
  • a punnet of strawberries from Sainsburys
  • Gin
  • Lemonade
  • Sugar
  • Mint
  • 2 jam jars*
  • strawberry jam
  • Bacardi rum
(we took a picture before we realised that we didn't need the raspberry and lemon cordial)

For the first ones, which were basically our own creation, we cut up the strawberries into small pieces and mashed them into some ice with mint and some juice from a segment of lime, before shaking them up in a cocktail shaker and adding a couple of teaspoons of jam and some sugar. We genuinely made this up as we went along so I apologise for not having exact measurements.. but once shaken we poured them into the jars and topped them with lemonade and decorated them with mint, lime and a strawberry then mixed it up :)
For the second set, we made strawberry mojitos and used step by step guide online:

They were also very very tasty!! However SOMEONE (me) didn't mash the strawberries properly and put a tad too much gin in.. nevertheless a lovely evening overall, despite the football :)

*P.S - for the jam jars, we were going to buy some empty ones from Sainsburys for £3ish, but we decided it would be easier to use jars of jam because I had a couple which were mostly empty. You can buy jars with handles on too which are so cute and I will definitely be buying for the future!!

Lunch in Newcastle

So today I went out to meet my friend Jen for lunch after picking up my university results (I did quite well so I was feeling good!!). We went to the Quilliam Brothers tearooms in Newcastle for lunch and some tea. I had heard a lot about it and it did not disappoint, we both had banana tea which wasn't sweet it just had a banana aroma and was very refreshing. I also had a pulled pork, jalapeño and sour cream stottie which was AMAAAAZING and came with little roast potatoes and salad!! If anyone is ever in Newcastle I'd definitely recommend Quilliams :)

Me and Casper being very in love before I left.
